The Face of Skin Cancer

The sun is strong and according to leading medical experts the ozone layer is slowly going away so that more harmful u-v rays are ending up in the world’s atmosphere. Skin cancer is serious and some types can take a person’s life without question, although it is not as fatal as other forms of cancers. There are quite a few different types, basal (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and malignant melanoma. Each come with different changes that occur to the body, basically the difference in the way the system works is a disruption in the way the genetic code handles stress and problems, causing it to now work properly.

One can notice in a mirror one day that there is the appearance of an ulcer, or a different color and change to a mole. Blood vessels might be present and bleeding can occur and not heal over time. This is when it is time to make an appointment to see the doctor and get it diagnosed. The great thing about this issue is that if caught early in the developing stages and treated correctly the outcomes are successful most of the time. Radiation therapy might be used, or chemotherapy. The main focus is prevention. Wearing sunscreen, sunglasses, and staying out of the sun and tanning beds is advices. Taking vitamins and antioxidants might help, but this is difficult to measure and needs more research to be validated.
