Energy Drinks Can Raise Your Energy
I receive a lot of questions about all these new ‘energy’ drinks that have hit the market during the last one or two years. They appear to be very popular, particularly with the youth, and they guarantee you the world with unrealistic claims of all the super energy you are going to have, and how you will be squashing the competitors in your sport, and the like.
So a pair questions arise : Are these ‘energy’ drinks truly any good for you? Do they really raise your energy? Do they have some kind of miraculous energy formula? Will they help you in losing weight? Firstly, let us take a look at what the majority of these energy drinks are sometimes made from.
Let’s commence with the high fructose corn syrup. Well, here we have got empty calories that may go direct to your buckle fat, and that are really much Worse for you than standard processed sugar. Ok, so you are saying that they have low-sugar or un-sugared variations as an alternative choice to the HFCS-laden energy drinks. Yes, but now you have got the problem of the damaging chemicals in the synthesised sweeteners. Another issue with synthetic sweeteners is just that there are some analysts that believe synthesised sweetener use leads folks to coincidentally consume more calories and gain more weight long term. I will not go into the details on that because that would fill up a complete discourse on its own. Just trust me that synthesised sweeteners and synthetic chemicals in food generally, are all terrible news for your body! What about the caffeine? Well, first off, caffeine in itself does not provide ‘energy’. Technically, the sole substances that really supply energy are calories ( from carbohydrates, protein, and fat ).
Nonetheless caffeine can be an help for livening or waking a few people up, by exciting the central nervous network. Bear in mind though, if you are a regular coffee drinker, you are most probably hooked on caffeine and doubtless would not receive too much benefit from the caffeine in an energy drink anyhow. Besides, rather than caffeine added to some gassy beverage, I’d prefer to get my caffeine from a natural source like green, white, or oolong teas, which really provide healthy anti-oxidating compounds too!
